Layer-by-layer material deposition and fusion. Process selection depends heavily on required mechanical isotropy.

FDM (Fused Deposition)

Extrusion of thermoplastic filaments. Highly anisotropic, cheap, excellent for rapid prototyping and jigs.

SLA (Stereolithography)

UV laser curing of photopolymer resin. Isotropic properties, high resolution, brittle parts without post-curing.
